Marco Martini, ricostruisce la breve tournée effettuata nell’estate 1951 nel nostro Paese dal più grande lanciatore di peso di tutti i tempi, Parry O’Brien. Pubblicato sul numero 1/2011 della rivista AtleticaStudi, viene qui presentato anche con la traduzione in lingua inglese.

 

This article, written by our member prof. Marco Martini, talks about the brief italian tour of summer 1951 of Parry O’Brien, the greatest shot putter who has ever lived. It was published in the number 1/2011 of the magazine AtleticaStudi, and here we offer also its translation into English.

Bologna 1° luglio 1951. Come si vede, O’Brien lanciava ancora con la semplice traslocazione, partendo fianco alla direzione di lancio.
Bologna, july the 1st 1951. As the photograph shows, O’Brien was still using the old technique, a simple glide executed sideways starting with the left hip facing the front of the circle, in the direction of the throw.

Lo Sport Illustrato 1953. Parry, ormai famoso perchè campione olimpico e primatista del mondo, in azione con il nuovo stile da lui coniato.
